“The Walrus + Carpenter restaurant in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport started holding a “Last Waltz” concert in 2015. When the Walrus + Carpenter morphed into a different eatery in 2020, Walrus Alley in Westport, the annual event was discontinued at the restaurant. Now, it has shifted to a proper concert venue, the new Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport, on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
The local musicians involved include vocalists Liz Ashkins and Nathaniel Hintz, John Piolion on vocals and pedal steel guitar, guitarist Rob Maresca, bassist Alex Swift, drummer Jake Habegger, keyboardist Chris Strange, saxophonist Dave Savitsky, trumpeter Eric Zeiser and trombonist Brian Borrelli, plus special guest Dan Carlucci, Gianni Leito, John Britto, John Torres, John Chapman, Donny Piero and Kenny Owens.
The show is a simultaneous tribute to “The Last Waltz” and to the Walrus + Carpenter, which began the local tradition.”
